Ben Olmstead

Ben Olmstead is a local artist of Tucson who has created numerous large scale public sculptures, often collaborating with local sculptor and friend Simon Donovan. One interesting piece entitled, Loxodonta Africana, is a giant steel elephant in front of the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson.  Ben created this sculpture in collaboration with Simon Donovan and it can be seen on the corner of 22nd Street and Randolph way. Ben is the recipient of many art awards, including grants from the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona.

Ben has several works at the Land With No Name, including a large steel chiminea that keeps us warm at the land all winter, and Sky Ladder, a steel fabricated piece found along the trail.
